about ani's work

Ani Tonoyan is an actor, composer, singer, musician, and music director  based in the Twin Cities. Before that, she is Armenian, and Ukrainian Jewish. Ani is passionate about bringing more Middle-Eastern actors and minorities to the stage through theater. Marginalized people and histories are critical in art- always- and especially at a cultural time like this.

When it comes to the stage, Ani is fascinated and inspired by physical, classic works, reinventing and understanding them, and reintroducing them to new generations to come. She is trained in Shakespeare, Greek epics, clowning, musical theatre and has a wide variety of experience and professional credits in classic, contemporary, and musical theatre.

Ani has always been a multi-faceted artist, as anyone who has come to know her can attest. When not on stage, she music directs for theaters in the Twin Cities, teaches with the Guthrie, and voice coaches. She is fueled by her love of cinema, music, opera, literature, poetry, visual art, and of course, theatre. When not on stage, she is always reading, writing music, poetry, painting, and drawing. She dabbles in graphic design and social media work for theatre companies and runs her own digital art business.
